The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has released the latest work plan for the Test Guidelines (TG) Programme. The impressive list includes a variety of ongoing non-animal initiatives:
- A new TG on the SkinEthic™ human corneal epithelium eye irritation test for identifying chemicals not requiring classification for eye irritation or serious eye damage under the UN Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals
- Updating TG 492 on eye irritation testing using the reconstructed human cornea-like epithelium for the Labcyte method
- A new TG on the Vitrigel test method for eye irritation testing
- Updating TG 442E with the new in vitro IL-8 Luc assay and myeloid U937 test (U-Sens™) for identifying the skin sensitisation potential of chemicals
- Updating TG 442D on in vitro skin sensitisation antioxidant responsive element (ARE)–Nrf2 luciferase test methods, including LuSens
- A new TG for toxicogenomic analysis on three-dimensional reconstituted epidermis for measuring skin sensitisation potency (the SENS-IS assay)
- A new performance-based TG on Defined Approaches for skin sensitisation
- A new guidance document on developmental neurotoxicity (DNT) in vitro assays
