The European Commission’s (EC) Joint Research Centre (JRC) recently published a survey titled, ‘CSS Action on extended information requirements under REACH – Survey on New Approach Methodologies (NAMs)’.
The survey aims to gather information on NAMs capable of supporting the development of different options for extending the Information Requirements under the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation, one of the primary ambitions laid out in the EC’s Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS).
The NAM-based strategies should be able to address the regulatory needs (e.g. derivation of no effects levels, DNELs; predicted no effect concentrations, PNECs) for a range of critical hazards, such as carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, reproductive toxicity, toxicity to aquatic or terrestrial organisms, or endocrine disruption.
The deadline to complete the survey is 15 October 2021.
