Following a public comment period on the draft, the US Environmental Protection Agency has formally released its guidance for waiving sub-acute avian dietary tests for pesticide registration. This policy is based on our retrospective review co-authored with the agency that evaluated 119 pesticides with publicly available ecological risk assessments registered into commerce between 1998 and 2017. The review found that avian risk can be confidently assessed without conducting the dietary test. The policy will save hundreds of birds from pesticide tests each year while maintaining environmental protection. Access the policy here: http://bit.ly/2SXsGLz
