The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has published a new Guidance Document on Good In Vitro Method Practices (GIVIMP), which improves and harmonises guidance on the conduct of in vitro studies and advocates for a number of important non-animal strategies. The document is targeted at users who develop in vitro methods as well as those who implement them. It includes the following information:
• An update on good practices for new methods
• Guidance on standard operating procedures for good laboratory practice
• Details of factors and scenarios that may have an impact on a method’s reliability or relevance
• The specifics of a good in vitro method, i.e. reporting and acceptance criteria, experimental design, and performance standards
