The Science Consortium selected two winners for its travel award to attend a workshop on skin sensitisation in Hamburg, Germany, from 15 to 16 June 2023. The workshop, organised by Altertox Academy and acCELLerate, provides attendees the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in skin sensitisation testing methods and get hands-on experience with some of these new methods.
Dr Sinem Helvacıoğlu Akyüz has a PhD in pharmaceutical toxicology from Yeditepe University in Istanbul, Turkey. She is an assistant professor at Istinye University where she plans to integrate in vitro skin sensitisation assays into her research studies.
Peter Pôbiš is a doctoral student in biochemistry at the Institute of Experimental Pharmacology & Toxicology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, Slovakia. His research focuses on utilising three-dimensional tissue models to conduct toxicology assessments on various materials and products, including medical devices.
